Welcome To All Drop-In Poets
Come in and wander thru a wordy stew
simmering with essence and aroma for you.
The scent of the rose is heaven and divine
but the toss of the garlic suits us just fine.
Drop a sash of lavender on your way out
to lessen the bitters, prevent writer's gout.
And leave us a poem or two before you go,
knock someone off a metaphorical throne.
We do love to analyze and criticize.
We'll do it to you cuz we want the prize.

A Word From Arlene : Deeply metaphorical,
free-verse poetry is my absolute favorite.
Not only do metaphors take us past the word,
but when they are born in free verse, they go past
the poem, and beyond ,to the reaches of shores outside
our reality , hijacking our imaginations to the shores
of those shores' reality, and the shores of those
shores' shores!
I Am A Proud Member Of:
Interpret Pablo Neruda
Pablo Neruda is our spotlight poet. His use of metaphor is outstanding. One of the primary themes of this site is to promote and understand the use of metaphor, and celebrate those who do use it in their poetry. Many poets are lead to believe that if they simply adhere to form and meter and make their work clear and understandable, they have achieved the aim of poetry ( not so, in my opinion )! Of all the poetic forms that have existed through time, it is my opinion that only when
freeverse was born, did we really discover poetry! Up until that time it is my belief that poetry did not really exist ( ok, ok don't throw pies at me for saying that! ). What they referred to as
"poetry" ( again in my opinion ) were just confined ideas that should have burst forth, but rarely did!
"Pablo Neruda is the epitome of metaphor and freeverse. You are asked to visit the pages which display his poetry again, and again. Then please post your
interpretations of at least one of his poems in the "Serious Poets Forum". Once we have interpreted Pablo Neruda, I intend to forward our interpretations to the University Of Texas, which holds the rights to the works of Pablo Neruda. We'll see what they have to say about our interpretations. View Pablo Nerudas' Poems on the
"Love Poetry Page", and also on the "Mindbending Poetry Page" .
Don't forget to read the Pablo Neruda Bio on the "Poet Spotlight Page".
